Now being my first blog post, this one is probably going to be as basic as can be, and hopefully something I cringe at in the future (I’d like to think my writing skills will develop and improve as I go on ;) ) so apologies now……feel free just to scan the pretty pictures and miss the waffle if you like!

This summer I was so fortunate to have a mini brand shoot with the very talented Laura of Laura Martha Photography. As a huge fan of her work I felt excited to be captured by Laura, but must admit whole heartedly, I am one of those fickle women who complain to my friends and family that there are no pictures of me, and then when in front of a camera I immediately freeze, look completely awkward and make all the excuses to squirm away!

“You’re a blinker!” Laura said! Yes that was only a few minutes in and she had already noted one of my many annoying un-photogenic issues ha! Don’t even get me started on what to do with my hands (which suddenly weigh a ton each), how I should relax my shoulders instead of looking so tense, the wrong angle at which I am facing the camera……my goodness it’s an awkward, over thinking minefield!!

Here’s the thing, maybe Laura is just so blooming talented because she made me feel at ease! She allowed me to be captured naturally at work, faffing with all the pretty I am fortunate to use daily for my work. And most importantly she listened to my pleas to be captured smiling and happy!! This might seem like a strange thing to say, but the fine art wedding world as beautiful as it is, is very often full of serious, sullen portraits. Whilst my stationery definitely fits with a fine art aesthetic my personality doesn’t! I want to be able to show the smile you would see! Apparently my eyes light up when I talk about my children and/or my work. I can waffle on both these subjects quite happily for hours! With a sparkle in my eye and a huge smile on my face, that’s the real me! So I begged Laura to make sure there were no RBF images, and instead embrace the happy, so that and brand images were a true representation and boy did she deliver!!

There I was just generally faffing with all the pretty I get to use on a daily bases - The embellishments, making wax seals, assembling sets and tying them together with twine and before I knew it Laura had captured me naturally at work without it feeling scary at all!!

Already feeling spoilt being captured by Laura, I was thrilled to find out the lovely Jeni of Vanilla Rose Weddings would also be on hand to help with the styling! The three of us had a great time styling the pieces and although it was the hottest day of the year and we were all melting, the images look effortless - those girls are both so talented!!
